Visited this gastrobar at marine drive a few nights back for sampling of their new menu. Have been to Intercon before for The Dome, but at Long & short it was the first experience. This place is beautiful. When you enter you’ll be amazed at the grandeur. The place has amazing music playing and the beautiful bar just beckons to order few cocktails.
They also have a deck which gives u the beautiful view of the mesmerizing queens necklace. People sit here for sheesha majorly or the view. They dont serve sheesha inside. Twice a month they shut the deck and convert the restaurant into a party place.
The staff is super friendly and ensures you have a good time here. Loved the artefacts in this place and the ambience.
When it comes to the food we had chef Arzooman Irani (corporate executive chef) himself curating the whole experience. He asked us to order drinks of our choice while he sent us the dishes of his choice for the sampling.
We called for 2 drinks- Lavender cosmo and southwest maple. Lavender cosmo was vodka, cranberry, orange juice and lavender syrup. It was too good. Little on the sweet side, but loved it. The south west maple was a whiskey based cocktail which was even better than the all time fav cosmo- it was whisky, maple syrup, sweet and sour blended perfectly.
While we sipped on these we were served our first beautiful looking dish- amuse bouche- which means happy mouth; was just that-insalate caprese bao with chilli oil, garlic chips, tomato and mozarella. It was simple yet delectable and so beautifully presented.
Warm cheesy mushrooms-garlicky dipping dough, creamy forest mushroom and water cress. It was so creamy and tasty I cleaned it up in no time.
Wasabi rock prawns- Tempura battered prawns, cucumber and seaweed in ponzu and served with wasabi mayo on top- it was crunchy and scrumptious, fried to perfection.
Crackling chicken- This was lip smacking. The chicken was crackling from outside and melt in the mouth soft when u bite into it, the nuts on top and crackling spinach just added to the crackle perfectly.
Next came artichoke, garlic and spinach pizza- it was thin crust and one of the best pizza I tasted. Loved it!
For non veg lovers there was smoked chicken pizza- perfectly smoked, bbq flavour sauce and cheesilicious.
Next we tried their sliders-
veg- 1. Avocado hummus burger- crispy, creamy and bland yet tasty 2. Bun tikki- saucy, and very tasty.
non veg- 1. grilled chicken khalifa- pickled onion, perfectly grilled chicken and generous amount of cheddar. 2. Beer battered fish and chips slider- crispy, juicy and perfectly cooked.
All the sliders are served with a side of french fries, ketchup and a refreshingly tasty salad.
Now was the time for my favorite dish. PASTAS!!!
- Non veg- tortellini aglio olio- It was cheese burst tortellini, garlic, parmesan cheese and chicken- it was outstanding. Yummy, cheesy and creamy.
2. Veg- Carb free zucchini fettuccine- This one was the hero of the evening. It has less then 250 cals, and is glutton free. This one has no pasta in it whatsoever. It is zucchini made to look like spaghetti and mixed with pomodoro sauce and topped with crushed walnuts, herbs and brie. It was so tasty that though my tummy was bursting i licked every morsel of it off the plate. This plate was sheer genius of the chef. It was guilt free hogging.
Now was the turn for some desserts. Tried 2.
- Varbona 72% chocolate fondant, served with praline ice-cream and fresh fruits. This one was delicious. The praline ice-cream being the hero of the dish with the kiwis and apples just breaking the bitter sweet taste of fondant and the sweet icecream. The whole dish together was perfection.
2. Flourless cake served with mascarpone cheese and berry compote. This was slightly on the bitter side, but so creamy and so tasty, The mascarpone added to the creaminess and the berry compote was the perfect zing needed in the dish. Absolutely loved it!!
Had a great tasting experience. Loved everything and on top of all; loved the hospitality of the chef and his staff. For all the ppl on diet, this place has a specially curated menu for every kind of diet. Its a must try at least once for the experience!!
